As part of the TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festivals Support Program, I am very happy to take part as a speaker at the “Gebze Secure Future – SiberFest Science Festival,” which will be held at Gebze Technical University under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ceren Çubukçu Cerasi and brought to life through the dedicated efforts of the project team. 🌿💻
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, I will meet with participants in my talk titled “Cybersecurity Career Steps.”
This time, I thought we could approach the topic through the “5W1H of a Sustainable Cybersecurity Career.” 😊
What?
Pentesting, SOC, DFIR, Cloud… Do I really have to learn all of them? #NowImScared 😊
Why?
Should I start just because “being an ethical hacker sounds cool”? 😊 Or is it really about curiosity, problem-solving, and continuous learning?
Where?
Linux, networking, labs, CTFs… So where and how should I actually practice?
How?
Which technical skills should I develop? Why are communication, problem-solving, and reporting skills just as important as technical knowledge?
When?
“Start now, keep learning.” 😊 Because in cybersecurity, there is really no point where you can say, “Okay, now I know everything.” 🙂
Who?
Learn from instructors, communities, teammates, and of course from SiberFest. 😊
And we will also explore this question:
“How can we develop a hacking mindset instead of simply memorizing commands?”
Hacking mindset:
Be curious → Research → Try → Make mistakes → Learn → Try again. 🔄
From October 9–11, SiberFest will bring together a wide range of engaging topics through workshops and talks, from cybersecurity awareness and cryptography to digital literacy, artificial intelligence, and critical infrastructure security. Don’t miss it. 😊
Being part of a science festival centered on learning, experimenting, asking questions, and bringing together people from different disciplines is especially meaningful to me. I am also excited to strengthen the cybersecurity chain together with all the participants.
